My Favorite Recipes

Almost as good as reading someone else’s list of favorite books?  Taking a look at their best recipe finds.  (Well, if you like to cook.)  My favorite cookbooks are included on my favorite reads page, but here are some of my favorite recipes from around the web:

Baked Goods:

Apricot, Sage, and Cornmeal Cookies (Lottie + Doof)  (I like them better with dried cherries instead of apricots)

Big Crumb Coffee Cake (Smitten Kitchen)

Mary Hearty Bye’s Scottish Scones (I bake these per the comments but they make a great base for adding currants, pecans…)

Soups and Stews:

Creamy Artichoke Soup (Giada via Food Network)

Summer Squash Soup with Parsley-Mint Pistou (Epicurious)

Jose Andres’ Gazpacho (Delish)

Cold Avocado Corn Soup with Cilantro Oil  (Or if you think, as I do, that cilantro smells like pure evil, Cold Avocado Corn Soup Without Cilantro Oil.)

Salads:

Quinoa and Black Bean Salad  (Is also great with chicken instead of black beans)

Napa Cabbage Salad with Buttermilk Dressing (Smitten Kitchen)

Entrees:

Lebanese-Style Stuffed Eggplant (Smitten Kitchen)

Thomas Keller’s Favorite Simple Roast Chicken (Epicurious)

Mama Voula’s Spanakopita (Epicurious)  (I do a recipe-and-a-half of filling to thicken it up)

Reina Pepiada Arepas (Epicurious) (I’ve never managed to get the Venezuelan cornmeal to make the arepas properly but the filling is a GREAT chicken salad)

Tomato and Corn Pie (Smitten Kitchen)

John Besh’s Shrimp, Chicken, and Andouille Jambalaya (iVillage)

Candies and Desserts:

Fleur de Sel Caramels (Epicurious)
